Knitting 101: The Basics

Two night class, Thurs Oct. 10 & 17, plus two-hour Saturday assistance time at the shop!

You watched your grandma knit, or maybe your mom or your aunt. You saw the way they waved a couple of sticks and some string in the air and then – *poof* – suddenly you were wearing a brand new hat. Did you ever wish you could learn how to do magic, too? This is your chance to join local knit-thusiast Whitney Gouge for two evenings as she unravels the mystery of knitcraft!

During your first class, you will learn knit stitch, as well as how to cast on (start) and bind off (finish) your piece.

On the Saturday between classes, Whitney will be available at the shop from 10am to 12pm if you have questions or problems as you practice.

At your second class, you will learn how to purl, and how to combine knit and purl stitches to make textured patterns.

You will also be given access to video clips of each technique learned in class to help you as you continue to practice your new skills.

When you register, please indicate whether you will be providing your own materials or would prefer to have Whitney procure them for you. If you will be purchasing your own, materials info is detailed below.
