Crafting a mat is the perfect way to learn how to felt: the smaller size project allows for a very relaxed pace in which you can learn the basics as well as try some design techniques. If you can craft a felted mat, you can craft a felted scarf, shawl, table runner, wall hanging, rug, journal cover...!
You need very little fiber and little space to create a mat, so you'll easily be able to continue to explore on your own at home, even if you just have a small area of kitchen counter space.
You'll learn the way to lay out merino fiber in a traditional way used for making fine scarves and other felted items. I'll allow abundant time for the workshop….five hours. We will have time or questions and demos -- AND if folks cannot spare the full workshop time, they'll still have learned the basics and will have time to complete a mat, even if they need to leave before the workshop time concludes.
Please read the General Felting Workshop Info (in the Discussion section of the private FB group page that you will be invited to) that will be posted prior to the start of the workshops; and please contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to sharing my love of felting!
I am putting together beautiful collections of felting fiber, which will be available at the shop!
