Intro to Felting with Ann Pangborn~Making a Felted Mat (Date TBA)

Crafting a mat is the perfect way to learn how to felt: the smaller size project allows for a very relaxed pace in which you can learn the basics as well as try some design techniques. If you can craft a felted mat, you can craft a felted scarf, shawl, table runner, wall hanging, rug, journal cover...!

You need very little fiber and little space to create a mat, so you'll easily be able to continue to explore on your own at home, even if you just have a small area of kitchen counter space.

You'll learn the way to lay out merino fiber in a traditional way used for making fine scarves and other felted items. I'll allow abundant time for the workshop….five hours. We will have time or questions and demos -- AND if folks cannot spare the full workshop time, they'll still have learned the basics and will have time to complete a mat, even if they need to leave before the workshop time concludes.

Please read the General Felting Workshop Info (in the Discussion section of the private FB group page that you will be invited to) that will be posted prior to the start of the workshops; and please contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to sharing my love of felting!

I am putting together beautiful collections of felting fiber, which will be available at the shop!

Weebrawbag with Kris Zerby

Join instructor Kris Zerby as she teaches how to make the “Weebrawbag,” which is Scottish for "a little container used for carrying things."

In this 2+ hour class, you will easily complete one of these darling, practical drawstring bags.  This smaller bag is a great size for holding sewing notions, hair accessories, or skincare, while the larger size (measurements included in the pattern) can hold small knitting projects, childrens' toys, or travel games for the van.

The main body of the bag is interfaced for durability, and the boxed corners ensure that the bag stays upright when open!  Two outside pockets keep needed things handy, and the full lining completes the bag with a clean interior finish.

Once you've made one, you'll want to make more!  They make great gifts on their own...or fill with fun treats for someone special.

*NOTE:  In order to respect the copyright of the pattern designer, Laura Cunningham:

each student MUST purchase a copy of this pattern for their own use.

No exceptions.  This instantly-downloadable pattern is only $7.00 and available at: www.https://shop.mybluprint.com/sewing/patterns/weebrawbag/573301

NOTE:  If NOT purchasing a kit, you will find the materials list included in the downloadable pattern.  I have not allowed class time for prepping and cutting the pieces.  Please come to class with your materials cut and ready to sew.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me prior to the class.

**Optional Kits available which include all PRECUT materials needed to complete one small weebrawbag.

Learning Chainmaille: Celtic Star Pendant with Carol Korte

Chainmaille (also referred to as chain mail or maille) dates back to as far as the Etruscans in the 4th century B.C., although there is some evidence of earlier scale armor. The technique of weaving rings together to form armor spread worldwide, including as far as India and China. The Byzantine Empire then brought chainmaille to Europe, and during the Middle Ages it was commonly used as battle armor. To create chainmaille, wire is wound into coils, the coils are cut into rings, and then each ring is individually opened, woven into a pattern, and then closed.

In this class, you will learn how to open and close jump rings and how to weave them into a pattern called Celtic Star to create your very own pendant. You will be able to choose from the following colors for your pendant: blue, purple, silver, or copper. No prior experience is necessary.

Weebrawbag with Kris Zerby

Join instructor Kris Zerby as she teaches how to make the “Weebrawbag,” which is Scottish for "a little container used for carrying things."

In this 2-3 hour class, you will easily complete one of these darling, practical drawstring bags.
